"What they left out …"

One of the ways fast-food advertisers target young people is by focusing on how much fun you will have when you are eating their food and all things "cool" - everything BUT what’s actually in the “food.” Think about it. The commercials that I see focus more on fancy pictures of food (that never looks like what I actually get) and happy people rapping about food. As if black people hang out all day and rap about food.  What kind of commercials do you see?

But why don’t they talk about what’s in the food? Are they scared that if we knew what was in the food ( we might spend our money on different food choices?

There’s only one way to find out.  I’m going to try to make an advertisement using facts about the ingredients and you let me know if you think this an effective marketing technique.

My Ad:

“Get IN to our Chicken Nuggets” They are 50% chicken!

Mmmm. There’s nothing like the taste of our modified chicken flavored food –starch preserved with tertiary butylhydroquinone!  You may not be able to spell it, but when you taste our delicious sodium acid pyrophosphates and calcium lactates you are in for a deep fried surprise! But what makes our nuggets so unbelievably good?

“Our Nugget Magic”

1. At the center of our “nugget magic” is a pink pasty (and tasty) meat mash mixed with Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) PDMS is used in silly putty and head lice removal so you know it can’t be bad.

2.  To make our paste we use only the fattest chickens. We stuff them so full of corn feed that they were never going to be able to lay eggs anyway. Yum!

3. Then we chop them up, clean them with ammonia and squeeze them through our state of the art meat-separation machines.

4. Once we have the pastiest mash we add delicious, sodium phosphates, seasoning, canola oil, mono- and diglycerides, batter and bread it with: water, enriched flour, bleached wheat flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid, yellow corn flour, food starch-modified, salt, leavening (baking soda, sodium acid pyrophosphate, sodium aluminum phosphate, monocalcium phosphate, calcium lactate), spices, wheat starch, whey, corn starch…

And more! Is your mouth watering yet?

Our safety commitment:

When scarfing down our fast food you can be sure that you will never experience unwanted foaming. We use our anti-foaming substances like PDMS in "amounts reasonably required to inhibit foaming."

Some studies have shown that the food preservative (tertiary butylhydroquinone) can cause stomach tumors and cancer in large doses.

However, you can enjoy our food knowing that we only use small doses of this preservative in our products!

Do you think that this advertisement is a better way to get you and your friends to buy fast food chicken nuggets? Still want a chicken nugget?
